Enjoy a gluten-free summer full of flavors

The Celiac Association of Catalonia is fully involved in activities and events where it represents the celiac community. In addition, it puts in contact all those affected people so that they share their experience and experiences. Together they learn to take an appropriate diet without gluten to be able to do day to day like any other person.

Summer arrives and the Association does not cease its work. For 20 years, it has offered gluten-free summer colonies where its members and partners between 7 and 17 can take part. Children and young people have the opportunity to play and enjoy different activities and contact with nature, so that they learn to become aware of the eating habits they need to follow and the effects that being rigorous for their organism have , from small, to take a gluten-free diet that allows them to feel good and be able to perform any activity like the rest of children and young people.

But celiacs not only have the opportunity to learn in summer. The group of Celiac Youth of Catalonia formed by the young people of the Association, energize the activities aimed at improving the health and living conditions of celiacs between 18 and 35 years. They organize nutrition courses with specific technicians for young people. In addition, the main chefs and master chefs of our country guide the gluten-free cooking workshops for children and adults organized by the Association.

This year, the Association has promoted the “Gluten Free Area” for the first time in the most relevant Food and Beverage Fair in Spain: Alimentaria. The objective of creating this area was to offer leading national companies in the manufacture and distribution of gluten-free products such as Elaborats Milá, Arderiu, Bodevici, DCS free Froom, Algood and Sempio, a space to converge and position themselves. In this way, they can improve visibility to increase their individual competitiveness, in an international showcase such as Alimentaria.

Chef Pablo García from the Northern Zone of Spain at Unilever Food Solutions and Diana Roig, Head of Nutrition and Health at Unilever Food Spain and Southern Europe, showed ideas for the development of a complete menu suitable for coeliacs. On the other hand, Kris Akkala, Chef of Thai Barcelona unveiled the gastronomy of Southeast Asia with typical gluten free recipes.
